I believe that sound is another example of God’s provision for life, love and joy. He created sound. Sound worships; sets singing and dancing in motion. Think about it, true sound that is moving, fluid and beautiful, is for God, from God. Close your eyes and imagine the sound of the music of waterfalls, birdsong, or trees gently rustling in the wind. Every natural, organic sound, every sound of creation, glorifies God. Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord. Psalm 150:6. Let the sound of rushing waters, earthquakes, and thunder, pour out worship to the Lord God, the author and finisher.
Remember the noise of the earth shifting, shaking; the moan of an echo; rain tapping out symphonies on smooth rocks; hail drumming in sync with the heartbeat of Heaven. Think of volcanos throwing fire and thunder in a magnificent display of praise and worship. When you hear it, the hoofbeats of horses proclaim the dance beat of good news. A flaming warm fire crackles warmth and security deep within your soul. These sounds are familiar. They affect us. They have significance. They acknowledge creation.
Sound is communication. Sound can be a warning, a proclamation, entertainment, a statement of need or exclamation. Sound envelops us, stirs us, brings us to attention and it points us to God. The roar of a lion, the bark of a dog, the squeak of a mouse, the song of a human; all praise to the God of creation.
The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. Psalm 24. We are compelled deep within to praise Him. If we are prevented from praising God, creation will still cry out. Luke 19:40. What will we do? Sound honors its Creator, worships His majesty. He is to be sought after, followed and deeply loved. Only in Him is true wisdom and authority and life so abundant and overflowing that nothing can contain this joy. He is the definition of love. He is mercy. Surrender to Him, to the Sound of great love. Selah.
